What is a Lipidologist ?

A lipidologist is a physician who is board certified by the American Board of Clinical Lipidology (ABCL) and specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of lipid disorders including high cholesterol and high triglycerides. The goal of the lipidologist is to prevent, stop or reverse atherosclerotic disease, especially in those who have already suffered a heart attack or stroke. Since atherosclerotic disease plays such a large role in many of the chronic diseases of aging, lipidologists not only help extend  life span but also a person’s health span .
